FrontPage
Microsoft FrontPage is the most popular web
development tool in the world today. (DreamWeaver is perhaps the second
most popular tool and is considered to be stronger than Front Page in
many respects, but not easier.) No other program lets you create a Web
site with as much consistency and convenience" FrontPage comes with 3
distinct components:
1.
An HTML editor
to build and edit web pages,
2.
A site
management tool called FrontPage Explorer, and
3.
Web server
software so you can run and test your web site from your own desktop
machine.
The FrontPage Editor
This editor allows you to build and edit web
pages using a WYSIWYG interface. You don't have to know HTML code.
Rather, you simply type the words you want and plug in the graphics as
if you were using a standard Windows word processor. FrontPage Editor
creates the HTML code automatically. If you want to work directly with
the HTML code you can but it is generally not necessary except when
you’re editing web pages created by another HTML editor.

FrontPage Explorer
includes a site management tool that allows you to view your entire site
from 2 different perspectives as shown below:

FrontPage Explorer also automates such tasks
as publishing your updated site to a remote server and checking all the
links in all the pages of your site.

Copying Your Web Site Pages from Your Local Machine to the Web Server

Use a Built-in WebBot to Automatically Verify all Hyperlinks or check
for unlinked files
in all the Web Pages of Your Site (Including Internal Hyperlinks)
FrontPage
Web Server
-
FrontPage also comes with Web server software you can load on your local
computer to use in testing your Web site. In other words, you can build
a complete Web site on your desktop computer, not be connected to the
Internet, and run and test that Web site by also running Web server
software on your local desktop computer.
